SENSUAL, THRILLING AND SUBTLE

Cool eroticism and sensual exoticism

Artist Jürgen Wiens has always been fascinated by the aesthetic of the gracious matte white biscuit-fi red porcelain that has been typical of Höchster Porcelain since the 18th century, with its resemblance to antique marble. Sculptures made of biscuit porcelain, like the Coco de Mer object as well as the exclusive bamboo vases, expressively highlight the delicate shaping of each object.

Coco de Mer is a legendary and unusual fruit that grows only on the Seychelles. Brought to life by the observer’s imagination and the perfection of its natural aesthetic, the Coco de Mer sculpture becomes a mythically tinged creative object. The artist’s idiosyncratic interpretation subtly removes the Coco de Mer object from its foregrounded eroticism. Reduced in size, cooled somewhat by its execution in gracious biscuit porcelain, and appearing clinically removed and physically elevated by the pillar, Coco de Mer becomes an emblem for the veneration of the feminine on a new, abstract level.

ARIADNE

Everyone remembers the famous thread that Ariadne, daughter of King Minos, handed to her lover Theseus so he could fi nd his way out of the labyrinth. In the work of Jürgen Wiens, this thread can be found rolled up into a spiral, as a votive on a spherical body, and also as an element of his Ariadne sculpture.

MINOS - ARIADNE - CASSANDRA

In this edition, Wiens reinterprets the legendary fi gures of antiquity as well as individual elements of their myths from a modern sculptural perspective.

EXCLUSIVE BAMBOO VASES

In creating this natural shape, Wiens was inspired by bamboo’s natural structure. The bamboo vases are perfectly formed attentiongetters and add a touch of Far Eastern flair to any ambiance.

COCO DE MER

Unusual interpretations of nature become works of art through the use of beautiful Höchster Porcelain – together with bases made of stainless steel, basalt and marble.
